What it does

• Removes the requirement that dental hygiene school programs must last at least two years to qualify for licensure.
• Adds rules requiring applicants to have no recent adverse decisions or unresolved complaints from licensing agencies regarding criminal activity, fraud, malpractice, or negligent care within five years of applying.
• Creates a new position called executive administrator who will act as the principal executive officer for the Board of Dental Examiners.
• Requires licensed dentists and hygienists with federal drug registration numbers to complete two hours of education on pain management and opioid use every two years before renewing their licenses.
• Allows estate representatives, such as executors or guardians, to own a dental office for up to 24 months after the owner's death before transferring it.
