What it does

• Requires the commissioner to send an annual report on intensive management programs to the Board of Game covering the preceding three years.
• Mandates that the legislature receives a yearly report detailing how big game hunting opportunities are shared between residents and nonresidents, including specific breakdowns by species and hunt type.
• Creates a separate account called the sustainable wildlife account in the fish and game fund to hold money from intensive management surcharges for managing prey populations.
• Changes rules so the Board of Game may adopt regulations for intensive management programs if it determines that population depletion has occurred, human harvest is preferred, and enhancement is feasible.
• Updates fees that nonresidents must pay for big game hunting tags for species including bear, bison, caribou, deer, elk, goat, moose, sheep, wolf, wolverine, and musk oxen.
• Updates fees that nonresident aliens must pay for big game hunting tags for the same list of species at higher rates than standard nonresidents.
• Adds an intensive management surcharge to resident ($10) and nonresident ($30) hunting licenses, with exemptions for those eligible for low-cost or free licenses.
