What it does

• Sets aside funds from the General Fund and other sources to pay for operating costs of state agencies related to mental health programs.
• Allocates specific amounts to departments including Administration, Corrections, Education and Early Development, Family and Community Services, Health, Labor and Workforce Development, Law, Natural Resources, Public Safety, Revenue, University of Alaska, and the Judiciary.
• Funds programs such as behavioral health treatment, suicide prevention, juvenile justice services, psychiatric care facilities, substance abuse treatment, and mental health trust land management.
• Allows the Commissioner of Family and Community Services to move up to $7.5 million between budget items within that department if needed.
• Allows the Commissioner of Health to move up to $15 million between budget items within that department if needed.
