What it does

• Adds respiratory care practitioners and genetic counselors to the official list of licensed professionals who must use specific titles on signs and ads.
• Updates the legal definition of 'health care provider' to include more types of workers like naturopaths, dispensing opticians, out-of-state physicians, members of multidisciplinary teams from other states, respiratory care practitioners, genetic counselors, dental hygienists, psychological associates, social workers, and behavior analysts.
• Creates or updates agreements that let doctors, psychologists, physician assistants, and emergency medical staff get licenses in other states easily.
• Establishes a new advisory council to give advice on the Rural Health Transformation Program.
• Sets rules for how health insurance contracts must treat physician assistants by prohibiting unfair discrimination against certain providers under group health insurance.
