What it does

• Amends section 49-1446.02 of the Nebraska Revised Statutes regarding prohibited expenditures by committees.
• Bans committees from paying for a candidate's clothes, medical bills, or dental expenses, including those for immediate family members.
• Prohibits payments for car installments owned by a candidate, mortgage costs, and rent for a candidate's permanent residence.
• Stops committees from satisfying personal debts like loans, except for campaign loans that must be reported under section 49-1456.
• Prevents payment of personal services such as lawyers or accountants, unless they are reportable campaign services under section 49-1455.
• Bars committees from buying office supplies, staff, or furniture for the public office a person is running to hold, with exceptions listed in section 49-1446.01.
• Stops ballot question committees from spending money to help or hurt specific candidates in an election.
• Prevents candidate committees from providing goods, materials, services, or facilities to ballot question committees, including paying for their advertisements.
