Subject: Disposal of estrays, livestock and feral livestock. Summary/Major Elements: Current law allows for the auction of estrays, livestock and feral livestock. This bill provides that estrays, livestock and feral livestock may be sent to slaughter or disposal as an alternative to taking animals to auction. This bill also provides for the livestock board to enter into agreements with licensed meat processing plants to process the meat from livestock disposed of by slaughter. The meat is to be sold to a state institution or to nonprofit organizations for no more than the board's cost for disposal, processing and delivery and to profit entities at the market cost of the processed meat.
