Subject: Makes impersonation by electronic means a misdemeanor crime as defined; provides civil relief may be sought against a violator. Summary/Major Elements: ● Provides that impersonation of a person by electronic means, including the internet or by spoofing, is a misdemeanor crime that is punishable by a fine up to one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) and imprisonment up to one (1) year. ● Provides that a person may seek civil action against a person that violates the provisions of the act, including seeking compensatory damages, injunctive relief or other equitable relief.
