Subject: Immunity from liability for providing information on insurance fraud. Summary/Major Elements: Current law provides immunity for persons providing information to the insurance commissioner about a potential violation of the insurance statutes if the information is provided in good faith and without fraudulent intent. This act extends that immunity to persons providing information to law enforcement agencies. The act also extends the immunity to information about other criminal investigations. This act provides that a person providing the information described above may be entitled to an award of attorneys fees if he is the prevailing party in a civil cause of action for libel, slander or any other tort action arising from the provision of the information.
