Overview

Appropriates
$29,400,000 from the state General Fund (GF) in FY 2027 to the Arizona
Department of Transportation (ADOT) to distribute to the City of Apache
Junction for outlined transportation and infrastructure projects.

History

Laws 1973, Chapter 146
established ADOT to provide for
an integrated and balanced state transportation system with a director
responsible for the Department's administration (
A.R.S. � 28-331
). ADOT has exclusive control
and jurisdiction over state highways, state routes, state-owned airports and
all state-owned transportation systems or modes.

The duties of ADOT
are as follows: 1) register motor vehicles and aircraft, license drivers,
collect revenues, enforce motor vehicle and aviation statutes and perform
related functions; 2) do multimodal state transportation planning, cooperate
and coordinate transportation planning with local governments and establish an
annually updated priority program of capital improvements for all
transportation modes; 3) design and construct transportation facilities in
accordance with a priority plan and maintain and operate state highways, state
owned airports and state public transportation systems; 4) investigate new
transportation systems and cooperate with and advise local governments
concerning the development and operation of public transit systems; 5) have administrative
jurisdiction of transportation safety programs and implement them following
applicable law; and 6) operate a state motor vehicle fleet for all motor
vehicles that are owned, leased or rented by this state (
A.R.S. � 28- 332
).

Provisions

amounts from the GF in FY 2027 to ADOT to distribute to the City of Apache
Junction for the following transportation and infrastructure projects:

a.

$2,700,000
to widen Tomahawk Road between U.S. Route 60 and Southern Avenue;

b.

$6,700,000
to improve Delaware Drive between 16th Avenue and Broadway Avenue with safety
and drainage improvements;

c.

$1,000,000
to the pavement preservation program in Apache Junction;

d.

$12,000,000
for street and drainage projects in Apache Junction;

e.

$5,000,000
for improvements to the Ironwood Drive corridor; and

f.

$2,000,000
for safety improvements at the intersection of Idaho Road and U.S. Route 60.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.
Appropriation;
department of transportation; infrastructure and transportation projects

The following amounts are appropriated
from the state general fund in fiscal year 2026-2027 to the department of
transportation to distribute to the city of Apache Junction for the following
transportation and infrastructure projects:

1. $2,700,000 to widen
Tomahawk Road between U.S. Route 60 and Southern Avenue.

2. $6,700,000 to improve
Delaware Drive between 16th Avenue and Broadway Avenue with safety and drainage
improvements.

3. $1,000,000 to the
pavement preservation program in Apache Junction.

4. $12,000,000 for street
and drainage projects in Apache Junction.

5. $5,000,000 for
improvements to the Ironwood Drive corridor.
