SNAP Benefits; Purchases; Waiver

What This Bill Does

  • Allows the director of the Arizona Department of Economic Security to ask for permission (a waiver) from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to change what can be bought with SNAP benefits.

  • The director must keep asking each year until these changes are approved.

Who It Names or Affects

  • People who receive SNAP benefits in Arizona
  • Grocery stores and other businesses that accept SNAP payments

Terms To Know

SNAP
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, a federal program that helps people buy food.
Waiver
