Purpose

Appropriates
$250,000 from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2027 to the Livestock
Compensation Fund (Fund).

Background

The Fund
consists of: 1) federal monies; 2) legislative appropriations from the state
GF;

3) public and private grants; and 4) private donations. The Fund is
administered by the Arizona Livestock Loss Board (Board) for the purpose of
compensating landowners, lessees and livestock operators for: 1) wolf
depredation on livestock; 2) participating in a pay-for-presence program
implemented by the Board; or 3) implementing avoidance measures to prevent wolf
depredation on livestock. Monies in the Fund are continuously appropriated and
are exempt from lapsing (

The Board must
submit an annual report by December 31 to the Governor, the President of the
Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives and provide a copy of
the report to the Secretary of State. The report must contain the number of
applications for compensation, the total amount of monies provided to
