Overview
Appropriates
$10,000,000 from the state general fund (GF) to the state treasurer in fiscal
year (FY) 2027 for capital costs for a Yavapai County regional training academy.
History
The Northern Arizona Regional Training Academy (NARTA) is a
regional training center that serves cities, counties, state and tribal law
enforcement agencies across Arizona. The training center is located at the
Yavapai College Prescott Campus and operates in partnership with Yavapai
College. NARTA offers a 21-week basic training program that introduces academy
recruits to law enforcement work. The course runs twice a year and consists of
800 training hours and 663 hours of basic police curriculum. Upon completion,
graduates earn 34 college credits in Administration of Justice (
Yavapai
College: NARTA
).
Provisions
1.
Appropriates
$10,000,000 from the GF to the state treasurer in FY 2027 to distribute to
Yavapai County for the capital costs for NARTA. (Sec. 1)
2.
Exempts the
appropriation from lapsing until June 30, 2029. (Sec. 1)

Appropriating monies to state treasurer.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1.
Appropriation;
state treasurer; Yavapai county; northern Arizona regional training academy;
exemption
A. The sum of $10,000,000
is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2026-2027 to
the state treasurer to distribute to Yavapai county for capital costs for a
northern Arizona regional training academy.
B. The appropriation made
in subsection A of this section is exempt from the provisions of section
35-190, Arizona Revised Statutes, relating to lapsing of appropriations, until
June 30, 2029.
