$14,500,000 from the state General Fund (GF) to the Arizona Department of
Public Safety (DPS) in fiscal year (FY) 2027 to distribute to the Apache
Junction police department and Superstition fire and medical district for
infrastructure modernization.

History

Established in 1969, DPS is the state's law enforcement
agency tasked with creating and coordinating services for use by local law
enforcement agencies in protecting the public safety. DPS is responsible for:�
1) enforcing laws on Arizona state highways and in narcotics, organized crime,
liquor and specific regulatory functions; 2) providing operational assistance
to local and state agencies within the criminal justice community; and 3)
establishing modern services for prevention of crime, apprehension of violators

The Superstition fire and medical district is a political
subdivision of the state established in 1955. The district is located in Pinal
County and operates within the City of Apache Junction and five other

Provisions

Appropriating monies to the department of

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.
Appropriation;
department of public safety; police and fire infrastructure upgrade and
modernization

The following amounts are appropriated
from the state general fund in fiscal year 2026-2027 to the department of
public safety for the following purposes:

1. $5,500,000 to distribute
to the Apache Junction police department for headquarters expansion and
modernization.

2. $7,000,000 to distribute
to Superstition fire and medical district for fire station 265 modernization.

3. $2,000,000 to distribute
to the Apache Junction police department for public safety radio
interoperability upgrades.
