Current law allows a special taxing district to be created
for the purposes of providing fire, rescue and emergency services to a
geographical area which can include but is not limited to unincorporated and
rural areas. There are currently more than 130 fire districts in Arizona (

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Title 23, chapter 6, article 1,
Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 23-911, to read:

A rural fire district is exempt from providing
workers' compensation to volunteer firefighters.
