Purpose

Appropriates
$1,000,000 in FY 2026 from the state General Fund (state GF) to the Department
of Economic Security (DES) for the Older Individuals Who Are Blind Program.

Background

The Independent
Living Older Blind Program (ILOB) established within DES helps persons who are
blind or visually impaired achieve goals for independent living. ILOB services
may include rehabilitation teaching, orientation and mobility services, and
orientation and adjustment to blindness services.

An individual
may be eligible to receive ILOB services if the individual: 1) is at least 55
years old and has a significant visual impairment; 2) has a visual impairment
that substantially limits the individual's ability to be independent; 3)
requires ILOB services to become or remain independent; and 4) is able and
willing to participate in ILOB services (
DES
).

S.B. 1001

Be it
enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.
Appropriation; department of economic security;
older individuals who are blind program

The sum of $1,000,000 is appropriated
from the state general fund in fiscal year 2026-2027 to the department of
economic security for the older individuals who are blind program.
