Purpose

Appropriates
monies from various funds to named claimants in FY 2026.

Background

When monetary
claims are made against the state, the Director of the Arizona Department of
Administration (ADOA) has limited authority to approve payments to claimants,
if claimants meet statutorily defined timelines and sufficient monies are
available to pay the approved claims. Claims that are more than one fiscal year
old and less than four fiscal years old must be presented by ADOA to the
Legislature to request appropriations sufficient for payment of the claims

S.B. 1097
appropriates $370,211.08 from the state General Fund (state GF) and $33,021.18
from other funds to named claimants in FY 2026.

Provisions

1.

Appropriates
$370,211.08 from the state GF in FY 2026 to the following agencies for the
payment of claims:

a)

$1,025.25 to ADOA;

b)

$3,145.02 to the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and
Reentry; and

c)

$366,040.81
to the Department of Public Safety.

2.

Appropriates $1,997.24 from the Special Employee Health Insurance Trust
Fund in FY 2026 to ADOA for the payment of claims.

3.

Appropriates $17,944.04 from the Risk Management Revolving Fund in FY
2026 to ADOA for the payment of claims.

4.

Appropriates $1,571.03 from the Automation Operations Fund in FY 2026 to
ADOA for the payment of claims.

5.

Appropriates $7,576.88 from the State Highway Fund in FY 2026 to the
Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) for the payment of claims.

6.

Appropriates $399.03 from the Department Fleet Operations Fund in FY
2026 to ADOT for the payment of claims.

7.

Appropriates $3,532.96 from the Administrative Fund in FY 2026 to the
Industrial Commission of Arizona for the payment of claims.

8.

Requires ADOA to coordinate the payment of named claimants.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

1.

Supplemental appropriations for relief of named claimants; basis
of claims; coordination

A. The payment of the sums
appropriated by this section is in full satisfaction of the claims described in
this section. The department of administration shall coordinate payments.

B. The sum of $1,025.25 is
appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2025-2026 to the
