WHEREAS, the Barton High School Bears boys' basketball team bested the 18
Mount Vernon-Enola Warhawks to take home the Class 2A state basketball 19
championship at Bank OZK Arena in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on March 12, 2026, 20
with a score of eighty-nine to forty-four (89-44); and 21

WHEREAS, the Bears shot over seventy percent (70%) from the field 23
during the second half of the game, and, with this win, the Bears secured the 24
school's first state basketball championship; and 25

WHEREAS, the Bears ended the season with an overall record of thirty-27
four (34) wins and five (5) losses; and 28

WHEREAS, the Bears' team members are Christian Williams, Anderson 30
Smith, Quinteryon Wilson, Jordan Humphrey, Qulan Green, Keshawn Ross, Dominic 31
Hill, Quinteruin Davis, Cameron Otey, Drayden Hardison, Daylan Magsby, and 32

state championship game Most Valuable Player for scoring twenty-two (22) 3

WHEREAS, the Bears were lead by Head Coach Chris Williams and assistant 6

WHEREAS, also integral to the Bears' success were managers Justin Ward, 9

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL 19
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 20

THAT the House of Representatives recognize the Barton High School 22
Bears boys' basketball team for their leadership, discipline, teamwork, and 23
sportsmanship and for winning the 2026 Class 2A state championship. 24

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution be 26
presented to Head Coach Chris Williams by the Chief Clerk of the House of 27
