WHEREAS, the Barton High School Bears boys' basketball team won the 18
Class 2A state championship held at Bank OZK Arena in Hot Springs, Arkansas, 19
on March 12, 2026; and 20

WHEREAS, the Bears defeated the Mount Vernon-Enola Warhawks by a score 22
of eighty-nine (89) to forty-four (44); and 23

WHEREAS, this was the first ever state championship for the Bears; and 25

WHEREAS, the Bears finished their season with a record of thirty-four 27
wins and five losses (34-5); and 28

WHEREAS, the Bears team members are Christian Williams, Anderson Smith, 30
Quinteryon Wilson, Jordan Humphrey, Qulan Green, Keshawn Ross, Dominic Hill, 31
Quinteruin Davis, Cameron Otey, Drayden Hardison, Daylan Magsby, and Ronnell 32

WHEREAS, the Bears were led by Head Coach Chris Williams during his 5
first year with the Bears, Assistant Coach Martin Rawls, and Assistant Coach 6

WHEREAS, the Bears were supported by the efforts on and off of the 9
court by managers Justin Ward, Latravien Franklin, and Gilberto Zuniga; and 10

WHEREAS, the Bears were the beneficiaries of the academic leadership of 12
Principal Megan Guthrie and Superintendent Dr. Bruce Guthrie; and 13

WHEREAS, Head Coach Chris Williams said of the victory, "These guys 15
showed that they're the best team in 2A tonight by far. I'm just super 16
proud, man. I'm still really in shock; I don't think it's really hit me 17

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE 21
STATE OF ARKANSAS: 22

THAT the Senate recognize the Barton High School Bears boys' basketball 24
team as the Class 2A state champions. 25

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution be 27
presented to Head Coach Chris Williams by the Secretary of the Senate. 28
