BULLDOGS GIRLS' BASKETBALL TEAM AS THE 16
2026 CLASS 1A STATE CHAMPIONS. 17

WHEREAS, the Earle High School Lady Bulldogs girls' basketball team won 19
the Class 1A state championship held at Bank OZK Arena in Hot Springs, 20
Arkansas, on March 12, 2026; and 21

WHEREAS, the Lady Bulldogs defeated the West Side Greers Ferry Lady 23
Eagles by a score of seventy-three (73) to fifty-four (54); and 24
25
WHEREAS, this was the third state championship for the Lady Bulldogs, 26
and their first since 2018; and 27

WHEREAS, Earle High School swept both the boys' and girls' Class 1A 29
state championship in 2026; and 30

WHEREAS, the Lady Bulldogs finished their season with a record of 32
thirty-four wins and two losses (34-2); and 33

WHEREAS, the Lady Bulldogs team members are Madison Glaspie, Jada 35
Maples, Journey Jefferson, Zaniyah Johnson, Aniyah Miller, Aryanna Perry, 36

Jada Cheers, Christian Boykin, Natalie Sanders, Madison Dunn, Kennedi Hinton, 1
Madison Pounds, and Janaria Murry; and 2

WHEREAS, team member Jada Maples was named the 1A state championship's 4
Most Valuable Player; and 5

WHEREAS, the Lady Bulldogs were led by Head Coach Steven Jefferson, 7
Assistant Coach Zena Witherspoon, and Assistant Coach Summer Gatewood; and 8

WHEREAS, Head Coach Steven Jefferson said of the victory, "Man, what an 10
awesome game... [this] was one of the moments that I was hoping to have since 11
last year", 12

NOW THEREFORE, 14
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE 15
STATE OF ARKANSAS: 16

THAT the Senate recognize the Earle High School Lady Bulldogs girls' 18
basketball team as the Class 1A state champions. 19

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution be 21
presented to Head Coach Steven Jefferson by the Secretary of the Senate. 22
