WHEREAS, the Elkins High School Elks football team won the 2025 Class 18
4A state championship held on December 13, 2025, at War Memorial Stadium in 19
Little Rock, Arkansas; and 20

WHEREAS, the Elks won the championship game by beating the Dardanelle 22
High School Sand Lizards with a final score of thirty-one (31) points to 23
fourteen (14) points; and 24

WHEREAS, with their victory in the championship game, the Elks obtained 26
their first ever state championship title in program history; and 27

WHEREAS, the Elks completed the season with a record of fourteen wins 29
and one loss (14-1); and 30

WHEREAS, the Elks were supported by athletic trainer Jeff White, 15
Director of Athletics Steven Fein, and Superintendent Jeremy Mangrum; and 16

WHEREAS, the Elks were led by Head Coach Zach Watson, Defensive 18
Coordinator Alex Burris, and Assistant Coaches Jude Bartholomew, Scott 19
Poteete, Tyler Dorton, Callen Cleveland, and Chris Smith; and 20

WHEREAS, Elks Head Coach Zach Watson said of the victory, "It's 22
unbelievable. It's overwhelming. It means everything to our community. You 23
know, a lot of people didn't have us getting back here and pulling this thing 24
off. And, this speaks to the community, our faculty and administration, our 25
players, a little bit with the chip on their shoulder and all pulling in the 26
same direction, and you know, that's what propelled us back here and that's 27
what led us to a victory tonight.", 28

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE 31
STATE OF ARKANSAS: 32

THAT the Senate recognize the Elkins High School Elks football team as 34
the 2025 Class 4A state champions. 35
