WHEREAS, the Van Buren High School Pointers wrestling team won the 22
2025-2026 Class 5A state championship as part of the Arkansas State Wrestling 23
Tournament held on February 14, 2026, at Jack Stephens Center in Little Rock, 24
Arkansas, besting the Lake Hamilton Wrestling Wolves by a margin of ten and 25
one-half (10.5) points; and 26

WHEREAS, the most recent state championship title marks the fifth 28
consecutive Class 5A state championship win for the Pointers wrestling team 29
and the ninth Class 5A state championship win total counting dual and team 30
state championship wins; and 31

WHEREAS, by winning its fifth consecutive state championship, the 33
Pointers wrestling team ties the state record for consecutive state 34
championships in wrestling; and 35

WHEREAS, the Pointers wrestling team was led by fifteen-year-old 1
undefeated freshman Peyton Boston, who won the Class 5A one-hundred-twenty-2
six-pound class state championship title and was also named Outstanding 3
Wrestler for the lower weight class at the tournament; and 4

WHEREAS, the Pointers wrestling team qualified in eleven (11) out of 6
the fourteen (14) weight classes for the tournament, and ten (10) out of 7
those eleven (11) finished in the top four (4) of their classes; and 8

WHEREAS, additional team members placing were: 10
(1) Sophomore Carson Camera, third place in the one-hundred-six-11
pound class; 12
(2) Senior Denzel Arce, third place in the one-hundred-thirteen-13
pound class; 14
(3) Junior Talon Ray, fourth place in the one-hundred-twenty-15

(4) Junior Carter Sanders, second place in the one-hundred-17

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE 30

THAT the Senate recognize the Van Buren High School Pointers wrestling 33
team as the 2025-2026 Class 5A state champions and the Lady Pointers 34
wrestling team as the 2025-2026 Class 5A state runners-up. 35
