HB26-1355: Changes to Out-of-School Time Grant Funding

This bill removes the legal requirement for lawmakers to fund a specific grant program in 2027 and reduces its budget by $1.75 million, but it was vetoed by the governor.

What This Bill Does

  • Removes the rule that requires the General Assembly to give money to the out-of-school time program grant program for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
  • Reduces the amount of state funds given to the Department of Education for this program by $1,750,000 in the 2026-27 fiscal year.
  • States that no reduction is needed if the original budget was already lower than $1.75 million or did not include funding for this program.
  • Sets a rule that these changes only happen if the main state budget bill for 2026-27 becomes law.

Who It Names or Affects

  • The Colorado General Assembly
  • The Department of Education
