HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 120
DESIGNATING APRIL 22, 2026, AS "4-H DAY" IN THE STATE OF DELAWARE.
WHEREAS, 4-H is the largest youth development group in the world with over 6 million youth; and
WHEREAS, 4-H is based on the idea of practical, hands-on learning; and
WHEREAS, the first club in Delaware was the Houston Cardinals 4-H Club, which was established over 100 years ago, in 1914; and
WHEREAS, the 4-H clover is the symbol of 4-H, representing head, heart, hands, and health; and
WHEREAS, 4-H has an expansive reach, serving youth in rural, urban, and suburban communities in every state across the nation, and the youth are tackling the nation’s top issues, from global food security, climate change, and sustainable energy to childhood obesity and foot safety; and
WHEREAS, over 36,000 youth, 31% of Delaware’s school age population, are involved in 4-H in Delaware; and
WHEREAS, 4-H serves 1177 youth members ages 5 to 19 years old and engages youth through community clubs, after-school programs, military programs, school enrichment, special interest projects, and camps, such as Embryology and STEM activities; and
WHEREAS, there are 61 community clubs and 4 afterschool clubs statewide with over 3,000 members and these clubs are led by over 416 volunteers; and
WHEREAS, there are 3 national mandates for the 4-H Program: science and technology, healthy living, and citizenship ; and
WHEREAS, 4-H operates under 4 basic essential elements: mastery, belonging, independence, and generosity; and
WHEREAS, the 4-H motto is “To Make the Best Better”;
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 153

General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the Senate concurring therein, that April 22, 2026, is hereby designated as “4-H Day” in the State of Delaware, and the House of Representatives and Senate call upon Delaware’s citizens to recognize the many contributions of the State’s 4-H programs.

This Concurrent Resolution designates April 22, 2026, as "4-H Day" in the State of Delaware and calls upon Delaware's citizens to recognize the many contributions of the State's 4-H programs.
