DECLARING THAT MAY 17-23, 2026, IS "CHILDREN'S RESEARCH WEEK" AND RECOGNIZING AND HONORING THE SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS OF NEMOURS CHILDREN’S HEALTH DELAWARE VALLEY PEDIATRIC RESEARCH TO CHILDREN’S HEALTH IN DELAWARE, THE REGION, AND THE NATION.

WHEREAS, Nemours Children’s Health Delaware Valley Research (“Nemours Delaware Valley Research”) has established a foundation of excellence in pediatric research, translating scientific discovery directly into improved care for children; and

WHEREAS, Nemours Delaware Valley Research is recognized as one of the nation’s premier pediatric research centers, consistently ranking among the top institutions for National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding and exemplifying leadership in scientific innovation; and

WHEREAS, Nemours Delaware Valley Research focuses on understanding, preventing, diagnosing, and treating childhood diseases, including skeletal dysplasia, cerebral palsy, rare neurological disorders, and congenital heart defects, and serves as a global destination for complex pediatric care; and

WHEREAS, its integrated research ecosystem supports more than 285 groundbreaking research investigations, 130+ active clinical trials, and a community of 140+ pioneering researchers committed to improving pediatric health outcomes; and

WHEREAS, Nemours Delaware Valley Research houses multiple interdisciplinary research centers, including but not limited to programs in genomics, lung research, cardiovascular innovation, neuroscience, cancer and blood disorders, and pharmacogenomics, each contributing to breakthroughs that inform clinical care; and

WHEREAS, these efforts are supported by world-class facilities, advanced laboratory infrastructure, and dedicated clinical research units that enable translation of scientific findings “from bench to bedside,” directly expanding access to leading-edge care for children; and

WHEREAS, its research partnerships, including collaborations with Delaware academic institutions, the Delaware Health Sciences Alliance, biotech industry partners, and national research networks, amplify the reach and impact of pediatric health discoveries far beyond state borders; and

WHEREAS, Nemours Delaware Valley Research also plays a vital role in training future generations of researchers and clinicians, providing mentorship, education, and opportunities that strengthen pediatric research capacity locally and nationally.

NOW, THEREFORE:
