HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 129
RECOGNIZING THE NASCAR ALL-STAR RACE AND ITS ECONOMIC CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE STATE OF DELAWARE.
WHEREAS, the NASCAR All-Star Race is a special exhibition event that has been hosted in several different states and tracks over the years; and
WHEREAS, the 42nd annual NASCAR All-Star Race will be held at the Dover Motor Speedway on May 17th; and
WHEREAS, Dover Motor Speedway hosted its first NASCAR event, the Mason-Dixon 300, on July 6, 1969; and
WHEREAS, Dover Motor Speedway is one of only ten tracks in the United States to have hosted more than one hundred NASCAR Cup Series events; and
WHEREAS, the highly-banked, one-mile oval track was created, financed, and built by Governor David P. Buckson, Lieutenant Governor John W. Rollins, and Melvin L. Joseph beginning in August 1967; and
WHEREAS, the speedway has been nicknamed the “Monster Mile” for its punishing impact on cars and drivers, with speeds on the track reaching 170 miles per hour; and
WHEREAS, auto racing legends Richard Petty, Bobby Allison, Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, David Pearson, and Cale Yarborough have all seen success at Dover; and
WHEREAS, the icon for the Dover Motor Speedway is Miles the Monster, and his 46-foot tall monumental manifestation is located at the track's Victory Plaza; and
WHEREAS, the NASCAR All-Star Race will attract tourists from 46 states and 10 foreign countries to its host state; and
WHEREAS, tens of thousands of onlookers from across the country attend each year, contributing to increased economic activity in Dover and throughout the state.
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the State of Delaware of the 153rd General Assembly, the Senate concurring therein, that May 15-17, 2026, is recognized as “NASCAR All-Star Race” in the State of Delaware.

This House Concurrent Resolution Recognizes the NASCAR All-Star Race and its economic contributions to the state of Delaware.
