SENATE BILL NO. 261

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 18 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATED TO INSURANCE AND POSTHUMOUS PROMOTIONS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:

Section 1. Amend Chapter 66, Title 18 of the Delaware Code by making deletions as shown by strike through and insertions as shown by underline as follows:

§ 6610. Posthumous promotions.

(a) Upon certification by the Insurance Commissioner that a claim under this chapter has been approved, the covered person whose death occurred in the line of duty shall be given a posthumous promotion.

SYNOPSIS

This Act provides that firefighters, law enforcement officers, and other first responders, who are covered persons under Title 18, Chapter 66 related to line of duty death benefits will also receive posthumous promotions.
