SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 101

DESIGNATING JULY 2025 AS "AMERICAN PATRIOTISM MONTH" IN THE STATE OF DELAWARE.

WHEREAS,

American Patriotism Month provides an opportunity to honor and reflect on the contributions, achievements, and enduring ideals that have shaped the United States of America; and

WHEREAS, the month encourages civic engagement and helps educate future generations about the values, struggles, and milestones that define the American experience; and

WHEREAS, we recognize the many individuals, including military personnel, civil rights leaders, public servants, and everyday citizens, whose courage and sacrifice have contributed to the nation’s progress; and

WHEREAS, the American Revolution marked the founding of a nation built on principles of liberty, representative government, and self-determination; and

WHEREAS, the U.S. Constitution, adopted in 1787, established a representative government grounded in federalism, checks and balances, and separation of powers that continues to guide our nation; and

WHEREAS, the Bill of Rights, ratified in 1791, enshrined civil liberties and protections that remain fundamental to American life; and

WHEREAS, the American Civil War tested the nation's unity and commitment to equality, ultimately leading to the abolition of slavery and the expansion of civil rights; and

WHEREAS, the establishment of the National Parks System in 1916 reflected a collective commitment to preserving the natural beauty and environmental heritage of the country; and

WHEREAS, during both World Wars, Americans demonstrated resilience, unity, and dedication in the pursuit of peace and security at home and abroad; and

WHEREAS, the civil rights movement of the 1960s was a defining chapter in American history, advancing the cause of justice and equality through the efforts of countless activists and leaders; and

WHEREAS, the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969 exemplified the spirit of innovation and cooperation, as Americans worked together to achieve a milestone for humanity; and

WHEREAS, we remember and honor those who served in the Vietnam War, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice and those who returned home without the recognition they deserved; and

WHEREAS, throughout our history, pioneers, entrepreneurs, and change-makers from all walks of life have contributed to the growth and character of the United States.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 153rd General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House of Representatives concurring therein, that July 2025 is hereby designated as “American Patriotism Month” in the State of Delaware.
