SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 112
PROCLAIMING OCTOBER 28, 2025, AS “NATIONAL FIRST RESPONDERS DAY” IN THE STATE OF DELAWARE.
WHEREAS, first responders include professional and volunteer firefighters, police officers, emergency medical technicians, and paramedics serving communities across the United States; and
WHEREAS, first responders deserve recognition for their unwavering dedication to public safety and emergency response; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security estimates that 4.6 million first responders currently serve across the nation; and
WHEREAS, in 2017, Congress established October 28th as National First Responders Day; and
WHEREAS, although we should thank our firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and EMTs every day, October 28th offers a unique opportunity to express our sincere appreciation; and
WHEREAS, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, first responders worked tirelessly on the front lines to save lives and protect communities; and
WHEREAS, when natural disasters, tragedies, and accidents occur, firefighters and emergency workers consistently respond in extraordinary numbers, often being the first to arrive on the scene and demonstrating their deep commitment to making the world a safer and better place; and
WHEREAS, during times of national crisis, first responders have consistently been a source of aid, hope, and comfort for all Americans; and
WHEREAS, first responders save countless lives every day, and many have tragically paid the ultimate price in the line of duty - a sacrifice we must never forget; and
WHEREAS, National First Responders Day is an opportunity to show our immense gratitude and recognize the dedicated professionals who play a vital role in protecting the safety and well-being of every American.
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 153rd General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House of Representatives concurring therein, that Tuesday, October 28, 2025, is hereby proclaimed as “National First Responders Day” in the State of Delaware.
