SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 163
RECOGNIZING NATIONAL DOCTORS’ DAY ON MARCH 30, AND HONORING THE SURGEONS OF DELAWARE, INCLUDING THE DELAWARE CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF SURGEONS, FOR THEIR LIFE-SAVING SERVICE AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO A HEALTHIER DELAWARE.
WHEREAS, National Doctors’ Day is observed annually on March 30 to recognize the dedication, skill, and service of physicians who work tirelessly to protect and improve the health of individuals and communities; and
WHEREAS, surgeons play a uniquely critical role within the medical profession, combining advanced clinical expertise, precision, innovation, and sound judgment to perform complex procedures that save lives, restore function, and preserve quality of life; and
WHEREAS, surgeons across the State of Delaware provide care to patients in urban, suburban, and rural communities, delivering essential services in hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, trauma centers, and academic and community-based practices; and
WHEREAS, the surgeons of Delaware, including those affiliated with the Delaware Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, uphold the highest standards of surgical excellence, patient safety, ethical practice, and continuous professional development; and
WHEREAS, these surgeons contribute not only through direct patient care, but also through leadership in trauma systems, surgical education, mentorship of future physicians, research, quality improvement initiatives, and community outreach; and
WHEREAS, the work of Delaware’s surgeons strengthens families, sustains the workforce, supports economic stability, and advances public health by enabling Delawareans to live longer, healthier, and more productive lives; and
WHEREAS, the State of Delaware benefits greatly from the commitment of surgeons who respond in moments of crisis, manage chronic and acute conditions, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive, equitable, and compassionate care.
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 153

General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House of Representatives concurring therein, that the General Assembly hereby recognizes March 30 as National Doctors’ Day.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the General Assembly honors and celebrates the surgeons of the State of Delaware, including the members of the Delaware Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, for their extraordinary service, dedication, and leadership in saving lives, maintaining livelihoods, and advancing a healthier Delaware for all.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the General Assembly extends its deepest gratitude and appreciation to Delaware’s surgeons for their enduring commitment to excellence in care, innovation in medicine, and service to the people of this State.
SYNOPSIS
This Resolution recognizes March 30, 2026, as "National Doctors' Day" in the State of Delaware.
