SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 74
DESIGNATING THE WEEK OF MAY 11-17, 2025, AS "CHARTER SCHOOLS WEEK" IN THE STATE OF DELAWARE.
WHEREAS, public charter schools are an integral part of Delaware’s public school system; and
WHEREAS, Delaware public charter schools are instrumental in improving the educational achievements of students attending those schools through innovation and excellence in standards; and
WHEREAS, Delaware public charter schools offer Delaware students an opportunity to participate in specialized courses of instruction that challenge all students to reach their potential for academic success; and
WHEREAS, the creation of Delaware public charter schools resulted in an increase in the participation of parents and students in the education system; and
WHEREAS, there are currently 24 public charter schools in Delaware, educating over 19,000 students; and
WHEREAS, enrollment in Delaware public charter schools grew from 18,450 students in the 2023/2024 school year, to 19,032 students in the 2024/2025 school year; and
WHEREAS, Delaware public charter schools promote the principles of quality, accountability, choice, and
innovation.
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 153rd General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House of Representatives concurring therein, that the week of May 11, 2025, to May 17, 2025, be designated as “Charter Schools Week,” and that Delaware’s public charter schools are hereby commended for their role in improving Delaware’s public education system and enhancing their students’ academic achievements.
SYNOPSIS
This Senate Concurrent Resolution designates the week of May 11-17, 2025, as "Charter Schools Week" in the State of Delaware and commends Delaware's public charter schools for their efforts in educating Delaware students.
