SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 76
RECOGNIZING THE THETA ZETA ZETA CHAPTER OF ZETA PHI BETA SORORITY, INCORPORATED, FOR ITS OUTSTANDING COMMITMENT AND SERVICE TO THE DOVER COMMUNITY.
WHEREAS, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was founded on January 16, 1920, at Howard University in Washington, D.C., as a community-conscious, action-oriented organization rooted in the principles of scholarship, service, sisterhood, and finer womanhood; and
WHEREAS, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated has grown to include over 125,000 members in more than 900 chapters around the world, continuing a proud legacy of social action, service, and advocacy; and
WHEREAS, the Theta Zeta Zeta Chapter, chartered in Dover, Delaware, in 1980, has served Dover and the surrounding Kent County communities for more than four decades with unwavering dedication to community uplift; and
WHEREAS, the chapter has spearheaded local initiatives such as back-to-school drives, financial literacy workshops, voter registration efforts, and maternal health awareness campaigns, directly benefiting hundreds of families in the Dover area each year; and
WHEREAS, through national partnerships such as the Zetas Helping Other People Excel (Z-HOPE) program, the chapter has provided critical support and outreach in the areas of mental health, domestic violence prevention, and early childhood education; and
WHEREAS, the Theta Zeta Zeta Chapter has demonstrated a particular commitment to service projects that benefit women and children, including mentoring programs, scholarship awards, and partnerships with local shelters and community centers; and
WHEREAS, members of the chapter have volunteered thousands of hours in service to the community, embodying the spirit of civic engagement and making a lasting impact on the lives of Dover residents; and
WHEREAS, organizations like the Theta Zeta Zeta Chapter serve as vital pillars in our communities, and their continued work strengthens the social fabric of the state of Delaware.
NOW,
THEREFORE
:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 153rd General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House of Representatives concurring therein, that the General Assembly hereby recognizes and commends the Theta Zeta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated for its outstanding commitment to service, its contributions to the betterment of the Dover community, and its ongoing dedication to empowering others.
SYNOPSIS
This resolution recognizes and commends the Theta Zeta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, for its years of exemplary service to the Dover community, with a focus on educational equity, health advocacy, civic engagement, and empowering women and children.
