ToamendtheGovernmentEmployer-AssistedHousingAmendmentActof1999todesignatepublictransitemployeesaseligiblerecipientsfortheGovernmentEmployer-AssistedHousingProgram.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
actmay be citedas the“Home PurchaseAssistanceforTransitWorkers Amendment Act of
2026”.
Sec,2.The Government Employer-AssistedHousing Amendment Actof 1999,effective
May 9,2000 (D.C.Law 13-96;D.C. OfficialCode § 42-2501 etseq.),isamended as follows:
(a)Section2(D.C.OfficialCode§42-2501)isamendedbyaddinganewparagraph(11)
toreadasfollows:
“(11)“Publictransitemployee”meansapersonemployedbyapublicly-owned
mass transitsystemthatiseitherowned orsubsidizedby theDistrict.”.
(b)Section4 (D.C. OfficialCode § 42-2503)isamended as follows:
(1)Subsection(a)(1)isamended toreadas follows:
“(1)A Districtof Columbia government employee,a first-responder,an educator,
orapublictransitemployee;and”,
(2)Subsection(c)isamended by strikingthephrase“withtheDistrictof
Columbia or as an educator”and insertingthephrase“with theDistrictof Columbia, as an
educator,orasapublictransitemployee”initsplace.
Sec.3.Fiscalimpactstatement,
The Counciladoptsthefiscalimpactstatementinthecommittee reportas thefiscal
impactstatementrequiredby section4a oftheGeneralLegislativeProceduresActof 1975,
approvedOctober 16,2006 (120 Stat.2038; D.C. OfficialCode § 1-301.47a).
