Toamend,onanemergencybasis,theDepartmentofFor-HireVehiclesEstablishmentActof1985toclarifythedefinitionofa privatevehicle-for-hireoperator.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
actmay be citedas the“PrivateVehicle-for-HireOperatorClarificationEmergency Amendment
Act of 2025”.
Sec.2.Section4(16C)oftheDepartmentofFor-HireVehiclesEstablishmentActof1985,effectiveMarch25,1986(D.C.Law6-97;D.C.OfficialCode§50-301.03(16C)),is
amendedtoreadasfollows:
“(16C)“Privatevehicle-for-hireoperator”meansanindividualwhoutilizesthedigitaldispatchofa privatevehicle-for-hirecompanytooperateamotorvehicletoprovide
transportationtopassengers.”.
Sec.3.Applicability.
ThisactshallapplyasofMarch1,2024.
Sec.4,Fiscalimpactstatement.
TheCounciladoptsthefiscalimpactstatementoftheBudgetDirectorasthefiscalimpactstatementrequiredbysection4aoftheGeneralLegislativeProceduresActof1975,approvedOctober16,2006(120Stat.2038;D.C.OfficialCode§1-301.472).
Sec.5.Effectivedate.
ThisactshallltakeeffectfollowingapprovalbytheMayor(orintheeventofvetobytheMayor,actionbytheCounciltooverridetheveto),andshallremainineffectfornolongerthan
