Pretrial Detention Reporting Emergency Amendment Act of 2026

This emergency law changes the deadline for certain pretrial detention reports to September 30, 2026, and updates reporting triggers to include two specific public safety acts.

What This Bill Does

  • Changes the final date for submitting certain adult pretrial detention reports from a previous timeline linked to the Secure DC Omnibus Act to no later than September 30, 2026.
  • Updates existing rules so that data collection requirements are triggered after the effective dates of both the Prioritizing Public Safety Emergency and the Secure DC Omnibus Amendment Act of 2024.
  • Amends Section 1505(b-9) and Section 1505(b-10) of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the District of Columbia Establishment Act of 2001.
  • Sets a new reporting deadline specifically for juvenile pretrial detention reports by September 30, 2026.

Who It Names or Affects

  • The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the District of Columbia
  • Agencies responsible for submitting pretrial detention data
