A CEREMONIAL RESOLUTION

26-32

IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

April 1, 2025

To recognize and honor Dr. Perétte Arrington, Head Coach of the Jackson-Reed High School
Volleyball Team, for achieving her 500th career coaching victory and for her outstanding
contributions to student-athletes and the broader community.

WHEREAS, Dr. Perétte Arrington has served as the Head Coach of the Jackson-Reed
High School Varsity Volleyball Team, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to excellence,
leadership, and mentorship in high school athletics;

WHEREAS, under her exemplary leadership, the Jackson-Reed Tigers have secured 23
DCIAA Championships, 1 DCSAA State Volleyball Championship in 2021, and 2 DCSAA
runner-up titles, setting a high standard for volleyball in the District of Columbia;

WHEREAS, Dr. Arrington has been recognized as the 2021 DCIAA Coach of the Year,
the 2021 DCSAA Coach of the Year, and the 2021 Washington Post All-Met Co-Coach of the
Year, reflecting her extraordinary ability to develop talent and cultivate a culture of teamwork,
perseverance, and sportsmanship;

WHEREAS, under her leadership, the Jackson-Reed Volleyball Team has been ranked as
high as #10 in The Washington Post rankings, showcasing their dominance in the region;

WHEREAS, through her guidance, countless student-athletes have excelled both on and
off the court, earning opportunities to compete at the collegiate level and developing invaluable
life skills;

WHEREAS, Dr. Arrington has achieved the remarkable milestone of 506 career coaching
victories, an extraordinary accomplishment that speaks to her dedication, strategic expertise, and
the lasting impact she has had on the Jackson-Reed community;

WHEREAS, her contributions extend beyond the volleyball court, as Dr. Arrington is a
clinical psychologist with the Department of Behavioral Health, serving as a role model, mentor,
and advocate for young people in the District while emphasizing the values of education,
discipline, and leadership.

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
resolution may be cited as the “Dr. Perétte Arrington Recognition Resolution of 2025”.

Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia recognizes and honors Dr. Perétte
Arrington on achieving her 500th career win, commends her lasting contributions to high school
athletics, and extends its deepest appreciation for her dedication to empowering student athletes
across the District.

Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
