A CEREMONIAL RESOLUTION
26-44
IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
June 3, 2025
To recognize and honor Ahmi Thitayan for his dedication to public service, civic engagement,
and commitment to advancing the well-being of District residents through his work with
local DC leaders.
WHEREAS, Ahmi has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to public service,
beginning his career as a Campaign Intern with Marcus Goodwin for DC Council At-Large in
2020, where he supported grassroots voter outreach and volunteer coordination during a critical
election season;
WHEREAS, from February 2021 to January 2023, he served as a Communications Intern
in the Office of Councilmember Kenyan R. McDuffie, where he advanced the Councilmember’s
digital presence through graphic design, media monitoring, and legislative communications,
effectively connecting DC residents with their local government;
WHEREAS, he went on to join the Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton in
January 2023 as a District Intern, where he assisted with constituent services, special projects,
and policy communications before being promoted to a Capitol Hill Fellow, during which he
attended congressional hearings, wrote memos, and contributed to the office’s legislative and
outreach strategies;
WHEREAS, in August 2024, he continued his service to the District as a Constituent
Liaison for Congresswoman Norton, managing federal casework, coordinating with agencies,
and organizing community outreach events while serving as a trusted representative of the
Congresswoman at engagements across Wards 4 and 6;
WHEREAS, his academic journey reflects a deep commitment to education, beginning
with his high school years at Brentsville District High School and Northern Virginia Community
College, and continuing through his undergraduate studies at The George Washington University,
where he is expected to graduate in May 2025;

WHEREAS, his leadership, empathy, and professional acumen have made him a
respected and effective advocate for District residents—especially young people, immigrants,
and communities traditionally underrepresented in public policy.
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
resolution may be cited as the “Ahmi Thitayan Recognition Resolution of 2025”.
Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia recognizes and honors Ahmi Thitayan for
his tireless service to the people of the District of Columbia and congratulates him on a
promising career dedicated to public good.
Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
