A CEREMONIAL RESOLUTION

26-101

IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

October 7, 2025

To recognize and honor Gerard Brown for his twenty-five years of dedicated public service to
the District of Columbia.

WHEREAS, Mr. Brown, as a lifelong Washingtonian, has served as a public servant for
the District of Columbia improving the community health and quality of life as a code and rodent
inspector with the District of Columbia Department of Public Works before transitioning to
District of Columbia Health;

WHEREAS, as a graduate from Purdue University's Center for Urban and Industrial Pest
Management and Technology, Mr. Brown’s commitment to the health and quality of life of the
District of Columbia community is a larger reflection of his dedication to the science of public
health pest management;

WHEREAS, Mr. Brown has built strategic partnerships with local and federal
organizations, including the Environmental Protection Agency and Beyond Pesticides, to launch
Washington, D.C.’s first Rodent and Vector Control Academy; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Brown’s service to the District of Columbia community has gained
recognition from Purdue University’s Center for Urban and Industrial Pest Management as well
as one of the city’s highest honors, the Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Award for Distinguished
District of Columbia Government Employees.

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
resolution may be cited as the "Gerard Brown 25 Years of Service Recognition Resolution of
2025".
Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia recognizes and celebrates Gerard Brown
for his outstanding service to the District of Columbia and commends Mr. Brown for his
dedication to protecting communities, strengthening neighborhoods, and improving the daily
lives of residents across the District.

Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
