A CEREMONIAL RESOLUTION

26-118

IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

December 16, 2025

To recognize and honor the Coolidge High School Colts football team for winning the 2025
Turkey Bowl championship, their first Turkey Bowl championship since 1986, and to
commend the players, coaches, and school community for their achievement.
WHEREAS, the Coolidge High School Colts football team won the 53rd annual Turkey
Bowl on November 27, 2025, defeating Dunbar High School 15–14;
WHEREAS, Coolidge’s victory marked the school’s first Turkey Bowl championship
since 1986;
WHEREAS, the Colts overcame a 14–0 deficit during the game and mounted a decisive
second-half comeback, including a rushing touchdown by quarterback Aleem Moore on the first
drive of the third quarter, a 22-yard touchdown pass from Moore to wide receiver Derrick
Washington Jr. early in the fourth quarter, and a successful two-point conversion run by Moore
that secured the lead;
WHEREAS, the team’s head coach, Kevin Nesbitt, who has led the program since 2019,
guided the Colts to this historic win with support from Athletic Director Herman Frazier;
WHEREAS, the 2025 Coolidge High School Colts varsity football roster included the
following student-athletes: Chris Palmer, Jhalil Anderson, Aleem Moore, Matthew Hilton,
Brandon Artilles, Brandon Austin, Jason Battle, Zahr Porter, John Lafontant, Jumah Byrd,
Derrick Washington Jr., Cier Johnson, Sonny Moore, Kai Nesbitt, Idris Mouton, Andre Downs,
Jabreem Harvey, Jarred Brooks, Robert Irving, Aaron Ballard, Dylan Smith, Marshall Bouler,
Nasir Damali, Nasir Lyles, Mark Hilliard, Sir’Ryan Whittington, Kesean Mason, Gregory
Dargan, DaMari Venable, Neihman “Chop” Mills, Thomas Kelly, Kayvon Martin, Reginald
Campbell, Ryan Bigsby, Zamir Wingate, Tayvonne Cobb, Junius Rhodes, and Luis Martinez;
WHEREAS, the victory brought pride and celebration to the Coolidge High School
community, its students, families, alumni, and supporters across the District of Columbia;

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
resolution may be cited as the “Coolidge High School Colts Football Team 2025 Turkey Bowl
Champions Recognition Resolution of 2025”.
Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia recognizes and honors the Coolidge High
School Colts football team for their extraordinary achievement, their commitment to excellence
on and off the field, and the pride and inspiration they have brought to their school and the
District of Columbia.
Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
