A CEREMONIAL RESOLUTION

26-119

IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

December 16, 2025

To recognize and celebrate Mrs. Fannie Robinson on the occasion of her 100th birthday.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Fannie Robinson was born on January 2, 1926 in Emelle, Alabama;

WHEREAS, in 1959, Mrs. Robinson moved to Washington, D.C. with her husband, who
was stationed in the District as a member of the United States Navy;
WHEREAS, Mrs. Robinson had a long career with Marriott International, working as a
cashier for 25 years at multiple Marriott Hot Shoppes restaurants in the District. She retired from
Marriott in 1984;
WHEREAS, Mrs. Robinson also worked for the District of Columbia Public Schools
(DCPS), at both LaSalle Elementary School and Whittier Elementary School, as a lunch clerk,
with duties that included preparing food for the students and determining the number of lunches
to be served. She retired from DCPS in 1989;
WHEREAS, Mrs. Robinson is the matriarch of a large family with 6 children (Rose, Huey,
Dean, Nadine, Carrie, and Ray), 9 grandchildren (Cherita, Tya, Fannell, Traci, Tiffany, Jonathan,
Christopher, Timothy, and Christina), 12 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great children; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Robinson has been a proud and dedicated resident of the District of
Columbia for more than 60 years, making her home in the Riggs Parks neighborhood of Ward 4.
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
resolution may be cited as the “Fannie Robinson 100th Birthday Ceremonial Recognition
Resolution of 2025”.

Sec. 2. The Council joins the family and friends of Mrs. Fannie Robinson in wishing her
a happy 100th birthday, celebrating and acknowledging this milestone and the robust family
legacy she has created, and showing appreciation for her work on behalf of District of Columbia
residents, students, and families.

Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
