To recognize, honor, and celebrate the life, legacy, and service of Diane K. Triplett Alexander, a 30
third-generation Washingtonian, for her extraordinary commitment to children, her community, 31
and civic engagement in the District of Columbia. 32
WHEREAS, Diane K. Triplett Alexander, a third generation Washington and beloved 33
public servant, passed away on May 27, 2026, leaving behind a profound legacy of civic 34
engagement, leadership, and service to the residents of the District of Columbia; 35
WHEREAS, Diane K. Triplett Alexander was born and raised in Washington D.C., 36
dedicating her life and career to the betterment of the city and its residents; 37
WHEREAS, she was educated by the District of Columbia Public Schools, graduated 38
from Dunbar High School, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Morgan State University; 39
WHEREAS, for 41 years, Ms. Alexander served with distinction in the District of 40
Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation’s Early Childhood Program, where she played a 41
vital role in shaping the development, safety and well-being of all the children and families she 42
encountered; 43
WHEREAS, Ms. Alexander was a devoted member of Salem Baptist Church, where she 44
received her Cradle Roll Certificate, served as the organist, and contributed her musical talents to 45
the church as a member of the Chorus Choir for many years; 46
WHEREAS, Ms. Alexander was a resident of the Penn Branch neighborhood in Ward 7 47
for over 60 years, and she was an active member of the Citizens Civic Association, where she 48
participated in community initiatives, neighborhood events, and efforts to strengthen civic 49
engagement in Ward 7. 50
WHEREAS, her decades of public service exemplified the highest ideals of commitment 51
to the people of the District of Columbia, especially her beloved Ward 7, where her professional 52
and personal legacies continue to inspire others; 53
WHEREAS, Ms. Alexander was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, neighbor, 54
and colleague who cherished her family deeply; 55
WHEREAS, she was known for her hospitality, love of the arts, supporting her favorite 56
sports teams, and dedication to her faith and community; and 57
WHEREAS, Ms. Alexandar’s life embodied the values of service, dignity, and 58
community, and here legacy continues to inspire those who strive to strengthen families, support 59
children and build stronger civically engaged neighborhoods across the District. 60
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, that this 61
resolution is hereby cited as the “Diane K. Triplett Alexander Recognition Resolution of 2026.” 62
RESOLVED FURTHER, that the Council extends its profound respect, appreciation, and 63
deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Diane K. Triplett Alexander and honors her 64
memory as a treasured daughter of the District. 65
Sec.2. The Council of the District of Columbia recognizes, honors, and celebrates the 66
extraordinary life, leadership, and legacy of Diane K. Triplett Alexander, and extends its deepest 67
gratitude for her decades of dedication to the residents of the District of Columbia. 68
Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately. 69
