Complex research reactors, and weapons facilities for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Collaborate across various

• Championed the development of DNFS Technical Report 42, Flammable Gas and Criticality Hazards

processing/sampling providing consultation to the Eagle Rock Enrichment Facility team and design contractors. Held
accountable for the development of production impact for design and schedule changes. Provided document reviews
to identify and remediate compliance issues. Administered Requests for Information (RFI) ensuring best practices for
project schedule adherence. Conducted technical validation on centrifuge design and uranium enrichment process
systems documents. Oversaw core process design functions aligned with NRC license application and internal
requirements.
• Effectively identified and remediated a critical design flaw in an ASME Section VIII vessel as well as a
conceptual error within the design of uranium product and tails station component equipment saving the
organization one year of time.
• Automated workflow in the review and approval of vendor documents reducing the review period from six
months to three weeks.

Nuclear Services LEAN Leader (11/1/2009 – 07/31/2010)
Collaborated with process owners to develop and execute key continuous improvement strategies across Nuclear
Services focused on enhanced quality, costs, and client satisfaction. Provided strategic leadership over the Outage
Tooling Lean project overhauling processes from the tool design through maintenance leveraging the Lean Six Sigma
methodology. Led best practice sessions and managed key process improvements. Served as a participant in GE
Energy Services Lean Council.
• Enhances turnaround time for camera refurbishment utilized for visual inspections in the reactor vessel.
Project Manager (03/08/2008 – 11/1/2009)
Oversaw the execution of project objectives through the coordination or project resources including national
laboratories, universities, utilities, and engineering service providers to develop licensing and design plans an
advanced sodium cooled fast reactor called Prism ensuring delivery to the DOE in adherence with the Global Nuclear
Energy Partnership (GNEP) funding require ments. Developed a training manual for Advanced Boiling Water Reactor
(ABWR) technology facilitating the review of the ABWR licensing application.
• Successfully established the Systematic Approach to Training program per the Nuclear Power Operations
(INPO) guidelines.
Earlier experience as a Surface Warfare Office (LTjg, O-2) with nuclear subspecialty within the United States Navy

Dr. Arielle Miller
Dr. Arielle Miller is an engineering professional and Navy veteran. After
serving 5 years in the Navy as a nuclear-trained surface warfare officer ,
Dr. Miller continued her career in nuclear energy in the private and
government sectors. Dr. Miller has been a resident of DC for 10 years
where she has worked in the federal government doing nuclear safety
oversight. She also owns her own business providing education
consulting, PhD Coaching, and conducting research in STEM education.
Dr. Miller is a member of the American Nuclear Society and has served
on ANS Professional Engineering Exam Committee since 2010 support
the Nuclear PE Study Guide. Most recently she authored the ANS
Nuclear PE Online Study Guide modules for the nuclear fuel cycle.
Dr. Miller’s dissertation and field of study focuses on the effects of radiation damage on the
mechanical performance of additively manufactured parts. Dr. Miller is the third woman in
Howard University’s history to receive a doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering. She became
a licensed PE in nuclear engineering in 2009 in the state of Idaho, and is currently licensed in DC,
Maryland, and Virginia.
A Ward 8 resident, Dr. Arielle Miller earned her Bachelor of Arts in Physics from Northwestern
University, her Masters in Nuclear Engineering from North Carolina State University, and her PhD
in Mechanical Engineering from Howard University.
