18 RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
19 resolution may be cited as the "Commission on African-American Affairs Rashida Taylor
20 Confirmation Resolution of 2025".
21 Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia confirms the reappointment of:

29 Commission on African-American Affairs Establishment Act of 2012, effective March 14, 2012

31 Sec. 3. The Council of the District of Columbia shall transmit a copy of this resolution,
32 upon its adoption, to the nominee and to the Office of the Mayor.
33 Sec. 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately.

s. Rashida D. Taylor is a native Washingtonian, a young pioneer, gun
violence and parent advocate. Ms. Taylor currently serves as a Parent
Advocate, as well as a Peer Facilitator for the Family Well Being Program
with Total Family Care Coalition. Since the age of 15, she has been
advocating against gun violence. After watching her peers succumb to
horrific deaths, she wanted to do something to help her community. She
joined forces with a nonprofit organization called ROOT (Reaching Out
to Others Together) Guns Aside where she worked her way up from the
Summer Youth Employment Program to Senior Administrative Assistant.
Ms. Taylor has volunteered with many community organizations ,
including with her church distributing food and clothing to those in need.
More recently, she has been working with the F.R.E.S.H. Program (Fully Restoring Every Son’s
Hope) and The Great Injustice Program , where she has made a great impact helping those who
were wrongfully convicted to seek and find justice. Ms. Taylor is a mom, a sister , and serial
entrepreneur. She is the Founder & CEO of Riley’s Shea Parlor. In 2021, she and her mother
founded their own nonprofit organization called “It Takes A Village DC” (ITAV DC) . The
organization focuses on the disparities affecting mothers within the District of Columbia and helps
to restore mental health, wellness, food, and parent support systems.
A Ward 5 resident, Ms. Taylor earned her Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from American Public
University.
