In accordance with section 2 of the Confirmation Act of 1978, effective March 3, 1979 (D.C. Law 2-
142; D.C. Official Code § 1-523.01 ), and pursuant to section 3 of the Office of District Waterways
Management Establishment Act of 2022, effective March 22, 2023 (D.C. Law 24-336; D.C. Official
Code§ 8-191.02), I am pleased to nominate the following individual:

IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
To confirm the appointment of Nate Handy to the District Waterways Advisory Commission.
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
resolution may be cited as the "District Waterways Advisory Commission Nate Handy
Confirmation Resolution of 2025".
Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia confirms the appointment of:

as an individual with experience in maritime management or policy member of the District
Waterways Advisory Commission, established by section 3 of the Office of District Waterways
Management Establishment Act of 2022, effective March 22, 2023 (D.C. Law 24-336; D.C.
Official Code§ 8-191.02), filling a new seat, for a term to end April 19, 2029.
Sec. 3. The Council of the District of Columbia shall transmit a copy of this resolution,
upon its adoption, to the nominee and to the Office of the Mayor.
Sec. 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately.

in Washington, DC. With over 27 years of experience in the passenger
vessel industry, Mr. Handy has developed a deep expertise in managing
marine operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and
enhancing guest experiences.
Throughout his career, Mr. Handy has held various leadership roles,
including Associate Director of Marine Operations at Entertainment
Cruises and Senior Captain at Spirit Cruises. His commitment to
operational excellence has been instrumental in improving safety
protocols and crew training programs, resulting in consistently high guest
satisfaction.
