Establishment Amendment Act of 2020, effective March 16, 2021 (D.C. Law 23-184; D.C. Official
Code § 3-641.02), I am pleased to nominate the following individual:

17 RESOLVED , BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
18 resolution may be cited as the "Commission on Poverty Nechema Masliansky Confirmation
19 Resolution of 2026".
20 Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia confirms the reappointment of:

28 of the Commission on Poverty Establishment Amendment Act of 2020, effective March 16, 2021

30 Sec. 3. The Council of the District of Columbia shall transmit a copy of this resolution,
31 upon its adoption, to the nominee and to the Office of the Mayor.
32 Sec. 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately.

s. Nechama Masliansky, now retired, most recently led the public
policy, cause advocacy, and government -relations work of SOME (also
known as So Others Might Eat), for 20 years. SOME is a nonprofit
organization providing comprehensive social services to District residents
who are unhouses or at risk of homelessness.
Ms. Masliansky came to anti -poverty nonprofit work from her
background in anti-poverty law and anti-family-violence law. She was the
Executive Director of the National Center on Women & Family Law in
New York City, a Staff Attorney and Registered Lobbyist at the Virginia
Poverty Law Center in Richmond, Virginia, and a leader of several
domestic-violence initiatives in New York State. She has organized state-
wide and national trainings and successfully applied for federal and foundation grants. She was
also an Executive Editor at Matthew Bender & Co. and is the author or editor of more than 80
publications.
A Ward 3 Resident, Ms. Masliansky earned her Bachelor of Arts from Pace College and her Juris
Doctor from Hofstra University.
