IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
To confirm the reappointment of Elijah Moses to the Commission on Poverty.
RESOLVED , BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA , That this
resolution may be cited as the "Commission on Poverty Elijah Moses Confirmation Resolution
of 2026".
Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia confirms the reappointment of:

as an at-large representative member of the Commission on Poverty, established by section 102
of the Commission on Poverty Establishment Amendment Act of 2020, effective March 16, 2021
(D.C. Law 23-184; D .C . Official Code§ 3-641.02), for a term to end November 18, 2027.
Sec. 3. The Council of the District of Columbia shall transmit a copy of this resolution,
upon its adoption, to the nominee and to the Office of the Mayor.
Sec. 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately.

M
r. Elijah Moses has more than 15 years of professional experience in
workforce, business management and staff development. He is well
versed in best practices of workforce development and expressly familiar
with local and federal policies as it relates to workforce training and
services. He is an experienced educator and tradesman , carpenter,
licensed locksmith for the State of Maryland and a consummate
workforce development professional. He is NCCER certified in multiple
disciplines and teaches as an adjunct instructor for several regional
institutions and organizations.
Prior to assuming leadership of Wise Young Builders full -time, Mr.
Moses worked for the DC Department of Employment Services and
Department of Disability Services. Prior to his time with DC Government, he served as the
Director of Workforce Development and Education for the University of the District of Columbia,
where he served as the catalyst for increasing registration and enrollment by over 300%, launched
a series of CTE (Career Technical Education) classes and aligned businesses to recruit trained
students for placement of internships and employment. Mr. Moses has helped scores of businesses
mitigate penalties for government contract violations for First Source Contracts and Section 3
contracts.
Mr. Moses is also the Co -founder and Avenues Architect of Urban Equity Consulting Group, a
DC based consulting firm. He is an incumbent partner at Taurus Development Group, a DC based
real estate development company and has equity partnerships in two NY based companies. Having
auxiliary experience in property from his youth, Mr. Moses and family owned a dozen properties
in their real estate portfolio.
Mr. Moses is the Social Architect and founder of a not -for-profit program, Wise Young Builders
(DC, NY, MD, GA), which offers early career exposure, teaching carpentry and math to youth
ages 8-13 years old.
Mr. Moses is a Ward 7 resident.
