In accordance with section 2 of the Confirmation Act of 1978, effective March 3, 1979 (D.C. Law 2-
142; D.C. Official Code § 1-523.01), and pursuant to section 103 of the District of Columbia State
Athletics Commission Establishment and State Athletic Association Reorganization Act of 2016,
effective April 7, 2017, D.C. Law 21-263, D.C. Official Code § 38-2661.11, I am pleased to nominate
the following individual:

IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
To confirm the appointment of Barbara Jones to the District of Columbia State Athletics
Commission.
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
resolution may be cited as the "District of Columbia State Athletics Commission Barbara Jones
Confirmation Resolution of 2026".
Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia confirms the appointment of:

as a voting member of the District of Columbia Athletics Commission, established by section
103 of the District of Columbia State Athletics Commission Establishment and State Athletic
Association Reorganization Act of 2016, effective April 7, 2017 (D.C. Law 21-263; D.C.
Official Code § 38-2661.11 ), filling a vacant seat formerly held by Kevin Willis, for the
remainder of an unexpired term to end November 7, 2028.
Sec. 3. The Council of the District of Columbia shall transmit a copy of this resolution,
upon its adoption, to the nominee and to the Mayor.
Sec. 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately.

. B arbara Jones is a current member of the Board of Architecture,
Interior Design, and Landscape Architecture and the President and CEO
of Reservations7.
Previously, Ms. Jones served the Department of Human Services for more
than 30 years. Ms. Jones’ management experience spans both the public
and private sectors, where she has proactively recommended and
executed changes in policy, procedures, and methods of operations to
achieve organizational efficiency. Ms. Jones equipped her team with the
tools needed to deliver services to their communities.
Ms. Jones previously served as Ward 8 Commissioner for the D.C.
Commission on the Arts and Humanities and has led several community activism efforts. Ms.
Jones was the Campaign Program and Development Director for Walter Whitman Clinic and Co-
Chair for Walk in the Name of Love Foundation, amongst many others.
A Ward 8 resident, Ms. Jones earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Health Administration and
Biology and her Master of Science in Counseling from the University of the District of Columbia.
