A PROPOSED RESOLUTION
IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
To confirm the appointment of Mitchell Asante to the Commission on African-American Affairs.
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
resolution may be cited as the "Commission on African-American Affairs Mitchell Asante
Confirmation Resolution of 2026".
Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia confirms the appointment of:

as a public member of the Commission on African-American Affairs, established pursuant to
section 2 of the Commission on African-American Affairs Establishment Act of 2012, effective
March 14, 2012 (D.C. Law 19-106; D.C. Official Code§ 3-1441), filling a vacant seat formerly
held by Dr. Kimberly Jeffries Leonard, for the remainder of an unexpired term to end July 8,
2026, and for a subsequent term to end July 8, 2029.
Sec. 3. The Council of the District of Columbia shall transmit a copy of this resolution,
upon its adoption, to the nominee and to the Mayor.
Sec. 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately.

r. Mitchell Asante is a public policy and strategy professional with
experience serving in the legislative and executive branches of
government at the federal, state, and local levels. He currently works as a
Management Consultant at Guidehouse, where he supports multiple
components of the U.S. Department of Transportation, including the
Federal Highway Administration, Federal Transit Administration, and the
Federal Highway Administration, providing expertise in regulatory
compliance, financial management, civil rights policy, and strategic
planning. His work has included advancing equity initiatives under the
Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and supporting civil rights and
economic analyses impacting transit accessibility nationwide.
Mr. Asante previously served in the office of U.S. Senator Cory Booker as a Constituent Services
