2 of the Confirmation Act of 1978, effective March 3, 1979 (D.C. Law 2-
142; D.C. Official Code § 1- 523.01), and pursuant to section 5 of the Office and Commission on
African Affairs Act of 2006, effective June 8, 2006 (D.C. Law 16-111, D.C. Official Code § 2-1394),
I am pleased to nominate the following individual:

for appointment as a public member of the Commission on African Affairs, filling a vacant seat
formerly held by El Hadji Beye, for the remainder of an unexpired term to end October 27, 2028.

17 RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
18 resolution may be cited as the "Commission on African Affairs K wame Agyemang Confirmation
19 Resolution of 2026".
20 Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia confirms the appointment of:

31 Sec. 3. The Council of the District of Columbia shall transmit a copy of this resolution,

Mr. K
wame Safo Agyemang currently serves as the Director of Impact
Initiatives at the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), where he
leads strategic programs and national initiatives that drive donor
engagement, strengthen partnerships, and advance the organization’s
mission to support students attending Historically Black Colleges and
Universities (HBCUs). In this role, he oversees high-impact fundraising
events, cultivates relationships with corporate and philanthropic partners,
and develops innovative programming that expands TMCF’s national and
global reach.
Mr. Agyemang is a seasoned leader whose career began in public service
with the Government of the District of Columbia, where he managed
compliance, workforce development, and community engagement programs impacting thousands
of residents. As part of his workforce development efforts, he led training facilitation for
participants at the DC Infrastructure Academy and performed programmatic and community
engagement work with the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS). While his
professional foundation is rooted in public service, his true passions include youth development
and bringing people together through impactful events and fundraising initiatives that promote
cultural unity and social equity.
He is the Founder of the Black Greek Festival, a nationally recognized celebration of culture and
community that has raised more than $300,000 to support minority- owned businesses and
nonprofits. Mr. Agyemang also served as Director of Fundraising for the Capital City Christmas
Gala, Washington, DC’s longest -running grassroots charity event, where he successfully led
efforts to raise funds for HBCU scholarships while building enduring partnerships with Fortune
500 companies.
Deeply connected to his Ghanaian heritage, Mr. Agyemang has spearheaded global initiatives that
foster cultural and educational exchange between Historically Black Colleges and Universities and
institutions in Ghana. He is also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and is
passionate about cultivating relationships that bring ideas to life and make transformative
initiatives possible.
A Ward 1 resident, Mr. Agyemang earned his Bachelor of Arts in Civil in Criminology from the
University of Florida and his Master of Science in International Affairs from Florida State
University.
