18 RESOLVED , BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this
19 resolution may be cited as the "Commission on Human Rights Carmen Moreno Sanz
20 Confirmation Resolution of 2026".

31 Sec. 3. The Council of the District of Columbia shall transmit a copy of this resolution,

Ms
. Carmen Moreno Sanz currently serves as a high school Spanish
teacher at Winston Churchill High School. From a young age, she has
been deeply concerned with the inequities and injustices that persist in
society. This concern, rooted in her Humanist philosophy, has driven her
academic pursuits, professional endeavors, and volunteer activities. As a
Linguist, Ms. Moreno Sanz understands the power of language in shaping
perceptions and narratives surrounding human rights issues, and she is
committed to using her linguistic skills to amplify marginalized voices
and advocate for social justice.
Her experience as an educator has further reinforced her dedication to
fostering empathy, understanding, and respect for diversity among
students and community members alike. She firmly believes that education plays a crucial role in
promoting human rights awareness and empowering individuals to become agents of change in
their communities.
Through her work as a human rights advocate, Ms. Moreno Sanz has gained firsthand experience
