Governor; creating s. 99.122, F.S.; requiring the 4
Department of Law Enforcement to provide certain 5
nominees and officers-elect with a protective security 6
detail for a specified time period; providing an 7
effective date. 8

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 10

Section 1. Section 99.122, Florida Statutes, is created to 12
read: 13
99.122 Protective security detail for nominees and 14
officers-elect.—The Department of Law Enforcement must provide a 15
protective security detail to all nominees of a political party, 16
other than the nominees of a minor political party, to the 17
offices of Governor and Lieutenant Governor. The protective 18
security detail must be provided immediately upon the 19
adjournment of the meeting of the Elections Canvassing 20
Commission certifying the results of the primary election under 21
s. 102.111 until the relevant nominee concedes the general 22
election or upon adjournment of the meeting of the Elections 23
Canvassing Commission certifying the results of the general 24
election under s. 102.111, whichever is earlier. The Department 25

of Law Enforcement must continue to provide a protective 26
security detail to the officers-elect until the officers-elect 27
assume office. 28
Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2026. 29
